Ring Size Guide

Finding Your Ring Size

Ring size is the single most common reason a piece needs to come back to us. A few minutes of care here saves weeks of waiting later.

Measuring at home

  1. Wrap a strip of paper or a thin piece of string snugly around the base of the finger.
  2. Mark where it overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres. That figure is the inside circumference — which is the European ring size (a 54 mm circumference is size 54).
  3. Check that it passes over the knuckle with gentle resistance. The knuckle, not the base of the finger, decides the size.

Getting it right

  • Measure at the end of the day. Fingers swell as the day goes on and are at their largest by evening.
  • Never measure when cold. Cold fingers can be a full size smaller. Warm your hands first.
  • Wide bands fit tighter. For a band above roughly 6 mm, consider a half size larger.
  • Measure the correct hand. Most people's dominant hand is slightly larger.

Buying a surprise gift

Borrow a ring she already wears on the intended finger and measure its inside diameter, or press it into a bar of soap to take an impression. If in doubt, size up rather than down — a ring that is slightly large can be worn until it is adjusted; one that will not pass the knuckle cannot be worn at all.
